Arrow What's this fuzz about the updated jan/feb EULA??

A few days ago I logged into GW and there was this brand new EULA.
As I always do, I clicked [accept] without reading it ("- who READS this stuff anyway?", I thought to myself ) and went on playing with my friends.

A few days later another guildie logs in to the game and all hell brakes lose...

He had eyed the new updated EULA in general and found some disturbing bits and pieces... Unfourtunately he had forgotten to write them down and couldn't remember them to the letter...

There was things like coming expansions is going to cost per month to play in the future and something about an age limit of 18 yrs.

I have searched the official gw.com but can't seem to find anything about it. The latest official wiki update also states the jan08 update was a "date" update only...

Anyone else knows anything about it? Perhaps a link, a cut/paste, a source reference?

I've read this EULA and I can tell you that Guild Wars (and GW2) will NEVER require monthly payments of any sort. As for the age limit im not sure if its going to happen, but even if it happens, do you think it will stop people from lying out loud and playing anyway?

I actually skimmed it, and it did say somewhere that the owner of the account must be 18 years or older.

(a) Eligibility. Accounts are available only to adult individuals 18 years of age or older. If you are less than 18 years of age and wish to use the Service, your parent(s) or guardian(s) must complete the registration process, open an Account in their name(s) and accept full responsibility for all obligations under this Agreement. Those who have completed these steps and who maintain their Account in good standing are sometimes referred to in this Agreement as "Members."

No mention of fees, he probably read the part about where they bill you if you buy an account through your selected choice wrong.

This has been in there for a while, and is standard for most online games.

Minors can't give legal consent, so logically they can't agree to the EULA. Thus, it's assumed that their parents do. In reality, everyone just clicks through it. I've never seen a game that specifically stated no one under 18 was allowed to play it. How would you enforce that, anyway?

The payment thing isn't new either, a thread usually pops up about it every time they change something in the EULA. It basically says that they can do whatever they feel like with the pay model, so you can't sue if they change something.

The reality is that they'd have to be drooling idiots to change to a subscription plan in most countries, since it's one of the big selling points of the game. Anet knows this, and they've said as much. I believe that statement is there to address internet cafes, which are popular in Asia.

There was very little added to the EULA

The Update date changed.
The words Eye of the North was added to the list of games.
1 other minor thing changed that I really don't remember. It looks like it was simply an update to include Eye of the North into the wording.

Found by automatically comparing the old version and new version.
